5 Favorite Paintings and Replication

Five Favorite Paintings
Due Friday, February 6

Select your five favorite paintings and create a presentation. These paintings can be from any point in history, from any culture, whether you have observed them in person or not. There does not need to be a theme to the selection but you should be prepared to give a brief explanation as to each painting’s merits and why you feel personally connected to it. Each image should be presented with the artist and year of completion. Presentation should be in powerpoint form (on a USB drive or cd) and should be checked on one of the apple computers in the resource room beforehand.

Replication Project: Image Sources from Goddard
Due Tuesday, February 3

As you are selecting your 5 Favorites, keep an eye out for an image that you want to use for your Replication Project. Again, these images can be of any historical, cultural origin- but in this case, it should be a painting that you can represent faithfully in paint. You may choose to do a section or a whole painting, since extreme accuracy and proportion are goals, please do not select an image that is 48 x 72 inches and replicate it on a 16 x 20 inch canvas (you might do a section of that work). Images should be large, color from a book from Goddard Library or your personal collection (no internet print-outs accepted). If you are unsure if an image is a good fit, bring several options to class.
